An Architects’ Office
Problem Statement:
Create an office environment for the practice of architecture in accordance with the architects’ personal philosophies of design. The project construction was to be performed by the architects so the design had to match their construction abilities. The offices are in an abandoned second floor boarding house located in the downtown business district of Maryville, Tennessee. The architects’ design philosophies are based on the principles of spatial psychology as expounded by Edward Hall, Constance Perin and Kevin Lynch. The office design resulted from careful spatial analysis and a desire to retain as much of the original construction as possible.
